What is the Helium Hotspot?
The “Helium Hotspot” is a device used in the Helium Network, which is a decentralized wireless network based on blockchain technology. The aim of the Helium Network is to provide wireless coverage for the Internet of Things (IoT) through a distributed network relying on Hotspot points owned by users. Check your area coverage here.
When a Hotspot is activated, the device provides wireless coverage for the Internet of Things network, including the mining device directly connected to the blockchain network. For more information about the Helium Network and its applications, you can visit Helium Network.

- Frequently Asked Questions about the Helium Network
The Helium Network is a long-range wireless network that relies on LoRaWAN technology (Low Power Wide Area Network) aimed at providing Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity using decentralized hotspots. The network utilizes hotspots that allow users to create a long-range communication network with low costs and low power consumption, and it is used for cryptocurrency mining. These hotspots provide extensive network coverage for devices connected to the Helium Network, enabling them to transmit data via the blockchain over long distances using wireless communication technologies such as LoRaWAN, and sometimes via cellular networks. For more technical information about the network, visit the Helium Network website.
The Helium Network is used for several purposes, including:
- Providing Internet of Things (IoT) Connectivity: The Helium Network allows smart and internet-connected devices to exchange data over long distances using LoRaWAN technology. This supports applications such as asset tracking, environmental monitoring, smart agriculture, and smart city management.
- Cryptocurrency Mining: Cryptocurrency mining devices can connect to the network’s hotspots to link the mining device to the blockchain network instead of using the internet.
In summary, the Helium Network aims to create a robust, cost-effective, and energy-efficient communication infrastructure. It supports diverse IoT applications and enhances decentralization in mining and communication processes.
To access the mining device settings, follow these steps:
- Initially, connect the mining device to a computer using the cable provided with the device.
- Connect the device to a power source.
- Open a web browser and enter the mining device’s IP address, which is typically 192.168.1.1
- Enter the username and password associated with the device.
- Access the network settings.
- Choose “Radio Network.”
- Press the “Discover” button.
- The hotspot name will appear.
- Connect to it easily (no password required).
With that, the mining device is now connected to the blockchain network and ready to be linked to the mining platform.
The mining device is connected to the hotspot by following these steps:
- Connect the hotspot to a power source.
- Hang the hotspot in a high and suitable location.
- Turn on the mining device.
- Access the mining device settings and connect it to the hotspot by selecting the displayed hotspot name.
Once configurations are set, your ASIC miner should be primed for mining. Check the miner’s control panel, usually featuring a mining status page to verify readiness.
The Helium network currently covers most parts of the world, including complete coverage of the United States, Europe, and some regions in the Middle East. Please verify coverage before purchasing from here.
